Management Accountant

 
[Employer] a leader within the Australian Coal Industry, currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Management Accountant [Mine] . This is a full time permanent position based at site (residing in[Location] ).
 
The successful applicant will provide accounting support to the Operations Managers and Superintendents through providing advice on how to effectively utilise the accounting and reporting processes at [Mine] . Additionally, the core function of this role is to provide monthly reporting, forecasting, business planning input, cost analysis support and to coach/mentor the Commercial Assistant to deliver fit-for purpose account processing services to the operational sites.
 
Essential skills:
·         Minimum of 3 years commercial experience in a similar role
·         Extensive technical knowledge and understanding of mining accounting
·         CPA Qualifications
·         Knowledge of or exposure to ACA accounting policy and procedures and business systems
·         Strong interpersonal skills
 
Key outputs and accountabilities:
 
Services:
·         Provide accounting services and assistance to operational personnel
·         Provide advice and services to the Financial Controller on issues including commercial risk identification, compliance, monthly management and cost reporting, forecasting and associated cost variance analysis
 
Business optimisation:
·         Assist the Financial Controller, Operations Managers and Superintendents to optimise the utilisation of their resources through the provision of process based cost accounting activities and financial modelling, planning and scenario analysis of improvement opportunities / business development proposals
 
Audit:
·         Assist with audit services on the extent of compliance with ACA systems, legislative requirements and operation within the ACA commercial frameworks
 
This includes:
·         Data capture, measurement and synthesis
·         Monitoring and observation
·         Gap analysis and reporting
·         Team Management:
·         Lead and develop a team to deliver accounting services and contribute to site commercial effectiveness, generally achieving high output from the team with high morale.
 
We are seeking someone who will develop a deep understand of the key business drivers in a mining operation and can confidently interact between the operations and maintenance areas of the business to deliver a valuable service.
