Materials Procurement Officer

 
[Employer] has a vacancy in its Supply Services team based in [Location] for a Materials Procurement Officer. The team provides the full range of supply services, principally to the open-cut coalmines and port facilities in Central Queensland. The successful applicant will report to the Purchasing and Materials Manager.
 
The Purchasing & Materials Officer will contribute to the efficiencies of the whole supply chain, exercising responsibilities beyond straight purchasing to focussing on commodity management and the Total Cost of Ownership of commodities. Traditional Supply skills of sourcing and materials management through to disposal will be complemented and overlaid by skills in analysis and rationalisation of inventory.
 
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·         Support purchasing, inventory and commodity management procedures;
·         Monitor and manage vendor performance including key performance measures
·         Implement supply process improvements;
·         Ensure vendors meet their commitments relating to price, quality and delivery;
·         Maintain scopes of work and specifications for repair contracts
·         Maintain warranty claim register
·         Identify and resolve queries relating to the procurement of non-routine goods and services, at site, the Shared Services Centre in Adelaide and with the vendors.
 
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications & experience:
·         Meaningful supply experience, preferably in mining or other heavy industry;
·         Strong background in procurement and materials management;
·         Excellent interpersonal skills encompassing teamwork and good communication skills with a strong customer focus;
·         Initiative and self-organisational skills;
·         Competent user of Microsoft, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
 
It will be highly desirable to have sound SAP skills in the MM module and preferably exposure to the maintenance and accounts payable modules.
 
This is a staff position and a competitive all-inclusive salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.
