Junior Exploration Geologist

 
How does Africa sound for your next adventure?? I have a rare opportunity available for a Junior Geologist to join a small team based in the western part of DRC.
 
Our client is seeking a junior geologist to assist the project manager. The successful applicant would be stationed in the Congo permanently for a 9-12 month contract. Re-location costs are considered at this stage.
 
Selection Criteria
·         Experience in mineral exploration/mining industry at similar role with international companies, preferably at remote locations
·         Capable to conduct high quality work at international standards
·         Solid Independent working and decision making skills with minimal supervision
·         Good English language skills
·         Hand on experience on GIS/Mapping software such as ArcView, MapInfo or Micromine
·         Solid experience in Microsoft Office package, especially with Excel and Acces
·         Mining laboratory setup and experience
·         Cross-cultural awareness
·         Understanding of Occupational Health Safety and Environment(OHSE)  principles and procedures
·         Solid interpersonal skills, and be a team player
 
Duty Statement
·         Reports to the project manager/ assistant project manager
·         Manage, maintain and update mineral exploration database including geology logs, photographs, maps and special projects as required on daily basis
·         In cooperation with all geologists, prepare procedures and manuals that are related to the exploration fieldwork and camp which includes OHSE
·         Download daily GPS data into database
·         Organize paper and digital files
·         Prepare memos and correspondence
·         Assist the camp manager as needed
·         Prepare stock control
·         Handle and assist all laboratory setup and operations at camp site
·         To make sure that office run very smoothly, all files and folders are placed to the right place
