[Employer] is the world’s largest diversified resources company and is an industry leader in the supply of iron ore to the global steel industry from our Western Australian Iron Ore operations. We are expanding our mines and developing new, high value-in-use products to provide steel makers with competitive advantages in a series of large-scale rapid growth projects. As part of this expansion, [Employer] Resource Evaluation Group is undertaking a long-term integrated geological program to convert potential mineralisation through to resources and reserves, and to discover new iron ore deposits. We now require dynamic team members to be part of the on-site activities of the Resource Evaluation Group at our Iron Ore Mining operations.
 
Position Synopsis
The Resource Evaluation Group (REG) is seeking an enthusiastic professional to lead a team of Geologists to systematically explore and evaluate Iron Ore resource projects in alignment with the [Employer] WAIO business plan. Reporting to the REG Superintendent, this position offers an exciting opportunity to build a career working on exciting projects within a results-oriented, supportive and well resourced team. This position will provide an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Geologist who is looking to take the next step in their career.
 
The Resource Evaluation Team is responsible for managing world-class iron ore deposits and delivering high calibre geological reports and models. As the Project Leader you will be part of the [Location] REG leadership team responsible for both driving the success of the iron ore exploration programs and providing direction and mentoring for a team of geoscientists. The Resource Evaluation Group is committed to providing a well structured career with ongoing training and support.
 
Core responsibilities will include:
·         An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development;
·         Design, manage and deliver geotechnical work programmes aimed at delivering high quality data to support industry best standard structural geology models in alignment with the business plan;
·         Drive the development and mentoring of pit wall mapping, 3D photogrammetry and structural modelling within Western Australian Iron Ore;
·         Reporting of results and programmes;
·         Technical development and mentoring of Geologists and field staff;
·         Setting, managing and reporting of budgets; and
·         Setting and monitoring team and individual KPIs and goals.
 
Skills and Experience
We seek a degree qualified geologist with 5+ years industry experience including previous leadership experience. An excellent knowledge of structural geology will be highly regarded. A commitment to ensuring world’s best practice in geological data collection and interpretation is essential as well as experience in the safe management of all aspects of major drilling programs.
 
The successful applicant’s technical skills will be complemented by a demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Good communication skills and the ability to lead a team are essential.
 
This role is based in Newman and is offered on a Fly In Fly out basis from Perth on a family friendly 9 + 5 roster. A competitive remuneration package is offered commensurate with experience, and includes performance incentive and a generous superannuation scheme, as well as other benefits
