Mine Geologist

 
Our client is seeking the services of a Mine Geologist with around 2-3 years + experience.  Working on a 9:5 FIFO roster from [Location] the Mine Geologist is responsible for the planning, scheduling and direct supervision of the grade control function with the organisations Mining Geology Department. The ideal candidate will be expected to work to maximise the profitable extraction of the resources in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner. 
 
The primary responsibilities of the Mine Geologist are as follows:
·         To assist in the supervision of all grade control functions including both internal and contractors to ensure safe work practices and quality control procedures are followed.
·         Develop and maintain work practices and procedures of the highest professional and safety standards to achieve optimum performance of grade control functions.
·         Geological mapping and interpretations.
·         Supervision of the mining of ore zones to minimise dilution and maximise ore recovery.
·         Promote teamwork, communication and cooperation in the Geology department.
·         Provide on-site supervision, coordination, development, support and training to subordinate geology department staff and contractors.
·         Provide supervision and quality control of the various pit geology and grade-control data sets (in digital and hardcopy form).
·         Assist with ore reconciliations between modelled and mined production (data collection, calculation and reporting) as a part of End-of-Month production, End-of-Pit production and geological mapping reports.
·         Conduct ore inductions to train new operators and personnel.
·         Sample ore stockpiles and take measurements to determine loose volumes and densities of stockpile material as required.
·         To ensure all staff and wage employees are being assisted and properly trained in their work in regard to both safety and proper job procedures.
·         To develop and maintain up to date job procedures for all work functions undertaken by grade control personnel.
 
It is imperitive that you are a "hands-on" Mine Geologist who enjoys field work as well as desk work.
