Mine Geologist

[Employer] is the world’s largest seaborne coking coal supplier. [Employer] operates nine mine sites and a coal loading port in Central Queensland.
 
[Mine] - One of the world's largest open cut coal operations, producing 14 mtpa of metallurgical and thermal coal. The town has over 5,000 residents, excellent amenities and is[Location] . A great team spirit, on and off the job, makes for an enviable work/life balance.
 
A geologist is required for [Mine] to join the geological team within the technical services department. This role will see a suitably qualified geologist providing geological support to all sectors of the [Mine] site including technical services and operations.
 
Key roles and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
·         Ensuring compliance with all HSEC Policies and Procedures as well as Statutory Legislation under relevant mine site legislation
·         Taking an active role in all HSEC matters
·         Providing geological input to short-term and mid-term mine planning
·         Geological highwall mapping and structural interpretation
·         Plan and supervise near mine drilling for resource delineation to assist with production for Drill and Blast, Draglines and Coal Mining
·         Providing support to exploration programs to define and identify geological limits, variability and constraints
·         Undertake project and supervisory work as directed
 
The ideal candidate will posses the following:
·         Relevant tertiary qualifications in geological sciences
·         Minimum 3 years experience in mine site geology preferred, however all applications will be considered
·         Ability to supervise exploration contractors
·         Pit and coal experience preferred
·         Vulcan experience advantageous, however on site training will be provided if required
