Our client, a growing organisation requires Mechanical Design Engineers to work from their flagship Newcastle office. They design, manufacture and repair special purpose machinery for a number of diverse industries including automotive, rail, mining & metals, as well food and medical. 

Due to rapid company expansion and an abundance of new exciting and innovative projects, they require several Mechanical Designers to join their team at this exciting time. You’ll be reporting directly to the Senior Mechanical Designer. 

We are looking for a Mechanical qualified Engineer with excellent project engineering capabilities, strong hydraulic and pneumatic experience, good business acumen who enjoys calculation and design with Inventor and AutoCAD. Those that have industry experience within mining, materials, bulk handling will be preferred. 

The successful Senior Mechanical Engineers daily responsibilities will involve: 

• Creation of various 3-D models and associate fabrication & machining drawings
• Modelling using AutoCAD 2D/3D 
• Design special purpose machinery with Inventor. 
• Design mining material handling equipment with Inventor. 
• Learn to become an expert with Vault. 
• Preparation of Standard Bill of material. Creating part list for documentation
• Preparation of schematics for Hydraulic, water & lubrication systems
• Co-ordination with shop floor for various ongoing projects and giving them necessary engineering support
• Preparing engineering change request & restricting Inventor files as per different projects in Autodesk Vault
• Project management of re-builds
• Provide engineering support and technical clarification
• Co-ordination with different vendors for new/old/purchase parts Co-ordination with customers & project-mangers for completion of projects

To be successful in this role you should possess: 

• Mechanical Engineer degree is Essential
• 5 years experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer for the mining industry 
• Strong AutoCAD skills
• Very good Inventor Skills 
• Solid knowledge and exposure to Vault 
• Previous Machinery Design is essential – conveyor, longwall, special purpose etc 
• Strong Mechanical and hydraulic Systems designs knowledge  
• Bulk Material Handling / Mining & Metal Special Purpose Machinery Project Design Engineer experience 
• Excellent communication skills 
• 5 Years experience in a similar role 
• Strong business acumen with an ability to demonstrate strategic thinking
