The company:
Our client is a technologically-driven engineering-project house serving the minerals and metals industries worldwide. Employing 2,500 globally with fully functional engineering and project management offices in Perth and Brisbane, and offices in Asia, Africa and America, they are involved in innovative EPCM projects throughout the entire project life cycle.
The Opportunity:
A Project Controls Engineer is required to join the Project Controls Team and manage project controls aspects of projects in order to ensure that projects are delivered on time, to budget and in accordance with company and client objectives. In this exciting role you will be an integrated part of Project Teams, that will involve you attending meetings and sitting with the Project Team.
With full support of the Project Controls Manager and more senior Planners and Cost Controllers, you will establish and maintain the project schedules by ensuring the setting up of multi level schedules in appropriate software programs (P6e or Suretrak) and determining the appropriate level of detail for schedules used for projects and bids. You will also establish cost controls for projects by utilising standard company systems, creating the control budget using the work breakdown structure and control accounts against which scope change, commitments, payments, forecast and budget variances are monitored and determine the critical path and float for the project by logically linking scheduling activities. You will also:
· Assist with the preparation of the periodic project status reports by supplying cost reports, Cash Flow forecast, Commitment and revenue curves, KPI`s and variance reports.
· Monitor and report progress and provide regular updated schedules - including resource histograms, progress curves and current versus baseline comparisons.
· Establish and maintain the scope change database to manage and report trends and scope changes against the control budget by incorporating scope changes and trends into project schedules and resetting the baseline to reflect the current project scope.
· Continually monitor and update project cost forecasts by engaging with Engineering, Procurement and Construction to ensure that forecasts accurately reflect the current scope and schedule.
Depending upon your aspirations, and with further commercial knowledge and training it is anticipated that you will progress into the position of Project Controls Manager on one or more projects.
