You will be part of a dynamic technical team lead by the Technical Services Manager. Statutorily, you will be subject to the direction and control of the Underground Mine Manager for the implementation of the mine ventilation system and for the establishment of effective standards of ventilation for the mine.
You will be responsible for:
· Ensuring adequate ventilation of the mine and ventilation practices and systems are consistent with the Oaky Creek Coal Safety Management System;
· Ensuring the quality of the mine air is measured and recorded, monitoring and reviewing the activities of ventilation to minimise any negative impact on the environment;
· Taking charge of any ventilation system change in the mine;
· Ensuring that ventilation control devices are properly constructed;
· Ensuring that the ventilation and gas modelling for the mine is updated, managing the gas drainage operation at Oaky North Mine;
· Preparing and presenting the sealing applications for any parts of the mine that require sealing;
· Reviewing and maintaining the relevant Principal Hazard Management Plans and associated Standard Operating Procedures;
· Developing and maintaining the ventilation budget by managing activities within the budget plans;
· Contributing towards continuous improvement of the ventilation processes and systems through resourcefulness, implementing new technology, reviewing operating results and aligning short-term reforecast and budget improvement initiatives;
· Manage projects that are associated with ventilation and gas drainage.
The successful candidate will have relevant qualifications and experience in underground coal mining.You will possess efficient organisational skills and the ability to develop excellent working relationships with people at all levels within our organisation as well as external stakeholders.
